Bridge @ the Kirk

January 13, 2025

It was great to see the local Dalmally and Lochawe Bridge Club back in the Kirk for their Monday night sessions. The library is the perfect location to set up the tables, deal the cards and make new friends and we’re delighted that we are able to offer this space for the community to use.

Did you know that Bridge is excellent for mental health because it stimulates the brain through strategic thinking, problem-solving, and memory use. The game enhances cognitive skills like concentration, pattern recognition, and decision-making.

It also proven to promote social interaction, reducing feelings of isolation, and provides a sense of achievement and enjoyment. Regularly playing bridge can help reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, and even delay cognitive decline in older adults.

For younger people, bridge offers a fun and engaging way to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills. It challenges the mind with strategy and memory, helping to improve focus, patience, and decision-making abilities. Playing bridge also fosters social connections, teaching the importance of collaboration and sportsmanship. These skills can boost confidence and contribute to better academic performance, while the competitive yet supportive environment promotes emotional resilience and stress management.

But most of all…it’s good fun too! If you’re interested in coming along or just want to know a little more, then for more information contact Tony Graham (a.k.a. “Jiminy Cricket” due to his habit of sitting on your shoulder to offer advice on a hand!)

If you are running a local community club and are looking for a warm space for your meetings then we may be able to help. Contact us for more information.
