As you’ll discover, Walter Campbell was one of the first great recyclers and hated to see things go to waste. With that in mind he sourced the timbers for the roof from two Victorian battleships, The HMS Duke of Wellington and HMS Caledonia.
The Wellington was the most powerful battleship in the World in her time and she served in many conflicts, including the Crimea, before being finally scrapped in 1904 and her timbers shipped here.
