The Lion statue in the centre of the Cloisters was recently restored after a 40 year absence. He was damaged when some local boys were climbing over him and he “fell off” his pedestal and broke his jaw.

The culprits were “never found”, but the repairs were carried out in 2021 by a local stonemason, who just happened to be one of those local boys all those years ago.

Strangely, no bill for the repair has ever been received!
