Behind the Bruce is the beautiful clear glass window. This is Walter at his recycling best again, as the window was originally from the Pre-Reformation Church of St Mary in Leith which was built in 1483.
When the church was restored the window was removed and purchased by a Dr Robertson who erected the window in his garden in North Leith. When the Robertson family left the house in 1912, the window was put up for auction and Walter acquired it.
If you look closely you will see that there appears to be considerable erosion in places, This is because Walter installed the window back to front, so you are looking at what was originally outside. Walter simply preferred this side!

St Conan’s Kirk requires ongoing maintenance and it is through donation that we are are able to maintain and improve this building and keep it open for the public to enjoy. So if you are able, please use one of the following links to donate by text message.
