Within the curve of the Apse is the Communion Table which is made of solid oak. Local craftsman were found to create it and the wood from which it was carved weighed seven hundredweight, which is the equivalent of 350 kilograms.
The table was one of the last fittings produced for the Kirk and dates from 1930.
Surrounding the Apse are a series of chairs depicting the classic stylised dolphin motif. It is believed that Walter acquired these during his travels and that they are Venetian in orgin.
Whilst the dolphins are beautifully carved, the seats are a little more crude and it may have been that Walter acquired the dolphins as individual carvings and had them made into the chairs.
In addition, there are two other chairs that were gifted to the Kirk, one from Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh and one from Old Corstorphine Church.
