Singing Round the World

May 12, 2026

We had a beautiful day for our travels on Saturday, with an enthusiastic group singing their way around the world!

Led as usual by Musical Director, Stephen Williams, this fun workshop coached the singers in a wide variety of songs. The tour started in the US with Blowin’ in the Wind and moved on to Shoshloza from South Africa, Pokarekare Ana from New Zealand, Samba Lele, Brazil, Put Vejini from Latvia and concluded in the UK with Wild Rover (foot stomping included).

During the break all were treated to hot (or cold) drinks and a delicious variety of homemade cakes. These included two scrumptious trays of meringues with fresh cream and strawberries. All cakes were, as ever, donated by St Conan’s baking volunteers.

After tea, everyone sang through all songs once more with increased confidence and skill. The afternoon was enjoyed by all including visitors from the Netherlands and also New Mexico who also took part.
