This weekend saw the Kirk alight with colour as our 10th annual Christmas Tree Festival took place!
Seventy Eight incredibly creative trees adorned the Kirk, bought in from schools, businesses and charities to be admired and start the festive season with a smile.

We were also blessed with a visit from Lochnell Primary school choir singing carols on Friday. Euan Fulton performed Carols on the Organ on Saturday morning followed by Oban High School Brass Band on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday saw us entertained by The Minnies, singing Christmas and finally we were treated to Taynuilt Youth Pipe Band playing wonderfully in the Cloisters.
Throughout the weekend, our small (but brilliant) army of volunteers ensured people could park safely, were welcomed and helped to visit the Elves in the Crypt, looked after the raffle, supplied with tea, coffee, copious amounts of hot chocolate and piles and piles of wonderful home baking. We couldn’t have run the event without them.
Of course, the thousands of visitors were able to vote for their favourite trees and this year there were so many fabulous trees that it was a close run thing, but the top three trees were:
- The Holly King Serves Christmas – by the Artisan Cafe
- The Abseiling Tree – by Oban Mountain Rescue team
- The Engineers Nightmare before Christmas – by Kerr & James Heating services

Even the garden Robin got in on the act, helping people find their way in…

A few pictures of the event for you!

Finally, our thanks to our friends at the Ben Cruachan Inn who kindly put on drinks and nibbles for our exhausted volunteers after the event. It was very much appreciated.
