Christmas Tree Festival ’24

December 2, 2024

Wow! What an amazing three days! This year we saw a record breaking 75 trees entered into the festival, from charities, schools, individuals and local businesses.

The level of creativity was astounding, with trees made from lamp shades, recycled rubbish and exercise balls plus so much more. Darth Vader from Star Wars also made an appearance as a tree!

We were fortunate enough to have Lochnell Primary School come along to sing for us on the Friday, which was wonderful. On Saturday, Oban Brass Band came along to play some carols and finally on Sunday, the Singing Minnies from Taynuilt entertained us! Thanks to everyone for making it even more magical.

This year also saw us open the Crypt up with a tableau of a Victorian Christmas, such as Walter Campbell, the founder of the Kirk, may have witnessed.

As ever, all our visitors were able to vote for their favourite tree and this year we had over 2500 votes cast!

After counting them all the winners were!

1st Lochnell Primary School

2nd Hope Restored from Hope Kitchen

3rd Oban Mountain Rescue

Massive congratulations to Lochnell for their creative Mad Hatter’s Tea Party tree!

Also, a massive thanks to several of the local businesses who came to our rescue as we came close to running out of cups for the teas and coffee! Disaster averted with the help of our wonderful local community!

If you’d be interested in volunteering at the festival, or for any other events we run, just get in contact!
