Last year, the team at St Conan’s invested a small amount of money to allow us to experiment with dynamic coloured lighting that could be used at some of our events, such as the Pumpkin and Christmas Tree festivals.
These waterproof (always a must in Argyll) LED lights are extremely low powered, but can add an amazing splash of colour which shows the wonderful architecture of the building off beautifully as well as lighting the way for our visitors during those dark Winter months.
After playing with a few of these lights and moving them around the Kirk to see the effects they can give, we applied for a micro grant to allow us to purchase some more, meaning that we can light more than just one location in the building.
We were delighted last week to hear from GreenPower and Glenorchy and Innishail Community Council that they had agreed to fund our dynamic lighting project and we were able to order an additional 24 flood lights plus some additional cabling.
Whilst we love the long Summer days, we can’t wait for the nights to start to draw in so we can use our new acquisitions!
Thanks again to our friends at GreenPower and Glenorchy and Innishail Community Council.
Here are some examples of how the lighting can be used in the Kirk.
