Spring Clean at the Kirk

April 5, 2025

The weather was glorious today as our intrepid team of volunteers donned their rubber gloves and rolled out the Henry hoovers or grabbed a rake or trowel and headed out to the gardens.

Our list of achievements included a thorough clean of St Bride’s and St Conval’s Chapels. The South Aisle was swept and hoovered and all the pipework was cleaned.
The pews were treated to a deep clean and polish as were the Clan Stalls.

The communion table and dolphin chairs were cleaned and given a beeswax rub. All the windows were carefully washed and the surrounds dusted and hoovered.

Outside, the Cloisters were tidied and leaves removed and hanging baskets cleaned and ready for use. The planters were emptied in preparation for new flowers.

The small stream running down through the garden was cleared and the supporting wall rebuilt.

And of course, hundreds of leaves were swept up and cleared away.

After all that work, the team had a well deserved coffee and cake break along with some delicious sandwiches.
