This was a huge success! The audience of over 200 had a fantastic evening listening to the wonderful Taynuilt Youth Pipe Band, the also wonderful Taynuilt Community Choir and guest star, the legendary Karen Matheson!
The purpose of the concert was to raise funds to buy kilts for the Pipe Band. Formed just one year ago and led by Ally Murray, this primary school-aged band has gone from strength to strength. They already sound amazing and when they get their kilts-these are expensive- they will entirely look the part too!
Under the musical direction of the highly experienced Stephen Williams, this Highland Cathedral concert was an absolute delight! The songs were familiar but with some really interesting arrangements, and entertaining twists. The sound reached all parts of the building and the quality and volume were perfect.
The St Conan’s Heritage Trust are delighted to have had the opportunity to support the Taynuilt Youth Pipe Band. We are also happy to have been able to showcase the magical St Conan’s and its fabulous acoustics!
Both sharing the heritage of St Conan’s and working with the community are important aims for us: these meshed well with hosting and facilitating this concert. We spend a lot of our time raising funds for St Conan’s but on this occasion, we decided all monies raised should go to the Taynuilt Youth Pipe Band.
Congratulations to all involved. What a triumph!
