Today saw the Kirk hosting The Massacre of Glencoe community event. The event, which lasted about and hour and half and was attended by over 70 people told the story of the brutal betrayal by Glenlyon and the butchery of the men, women and children of the MacDonald clan through a combination of song, prose, stories, images and discussion
The event explored the main protagonists and looked at the motives and machinations that led to the massacre.
Ian MacIntyre played us in with the pipes, followed by presentations and discussions from Peter Hennessy, Professor Alan Riach and Scott McCombie as well as poetry and performances from Ann Barlow, Eddie McGuire, Karen Marshalsay, Vivienne Price, Carol Thomson, Anna Twigg.
Robert Campbell Preston gave the closing remarks as Ian played us out with the Pipers Lament.
Here are some of the key players in the event.

We also received some great feedback from those who joined us for the event.
